Graduating with a bang!

The finale of a year of student success is taking place this week as Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication in Chislehurst gears up for its annual Graduation ceremony. A hugely important event in the College calendar, Graduation is a chance for staff, governors, and proud parents to recognise the achievements of Ravensbourne students over the last 2-3 years. This year the ceremony will be held in The O2 at Greenwich Peninsula.

Not only is this a time to congratulate the graduates on their hard work, but also to celebrate the start of their careers. Many Ravensbourne graduates go on to roles in high-profile companies within their chosen industry, and continue to keep in touch and collaborate with the College as successful alumni.

Alastair Stewart OBE, renowned broadcaster and member of the College’s Board of Governors, will be the guest speaker at Graduation this year, joined by Professor Robin Baker OBE, Director of Ravensbourne College.

Over 300 students are expected to attend the ceremony, and this year’s graduates are a perfect example of Ravensbourne’s continuing ability to produce award-winning talent. Graduation marks the end of another hugely successful year for Ravensbourne – during 2008 a number of students scooped top prizes including Jessica Au from Fashion, who won both the River Island Gold Award and the Zandra Rhodes Catwalk Textiles Award at Graduate Fashion Week. At the high profile graduate showcase New Designers, Max Frommeld from Product Design was named New Designer of the Year, and Tony Pelly from Interior Design Environment Architectures won Best in Show from sponsor Household Design. At the D&AD Student Awards, Paul Leach from Design for Moving Image won the Silver Award, and Matthew Gill from Graphic Design was nominated for a coveted Yellow Pencil Award. These are just a selection from dozens of awards, work placements, sponsorships and collaborative projects accomplished by students across the College during this last academic year.
