IDEAs Graduate Awarded Best in Show

Hege Vetaas, who has just graduated BA (Hons) Interior Design Environment Architectures, was awarded ‘Best in Show’ at the recent graduate exhibition Freerange, by design studio Household Design.

Hege was given the coveted prize, which was also awarded to Ravensbourne student Tony Pelly in 2008, for her ‘Fair Ground’ scheme, which converts an old factory building in Whitechapel into a Women’s Resource Centre.

Household judges said, “Hege’s project covered the social and geographical issues in the current environment surrounding women in both their work and social life, and the solution for this stood out as a considered scheme backed with research and insight.

“Through the concept of veiling, creating layers and translucency, Hege demonstrated an understanding of customer journeys and mindsets, creating a female zone that brings women together through work, education and play, controlled by the women inhabiting it.”

Hege has also been offered a job at renowned architects Norman Foster and Partners.
