Olympic horse jump: from design to reality in Greenwich Park

Local student designs made real for Olympics horse jump

Local primary schools were last year invited to submit Greenwich-inspired designs for the London 2012 Olympic Games horse-riding course.

Depicting Greenwich’s most famous buildings, from the Old Royal Naval College to The O2, the winning drawings were then made into the finished product by Ravensbourne students.

Commissioned by Greenwich Council and LOCOG, the jump was built on Maze Hill near the Allies and Morrison-designed Equestrian venue.

The initiative builds on Ravensbourne’s reputation for 3D prototyping and product design. One of the design icons of the games, the Olympic torch, was co-designed by Ravensbourne Alumnus Jay Osgerby.
