Our alumnus one of Broadcast’s 2012 Hot Shots

A former Ravensbourne student has been included in the 2012 listing of ‘ones to watch’ by industry publication Broadcast.

Charlie Hawryliw, a former Post Production student at Ravensbourne, is currently an editor on ITN Productions.  His impressive portfolio of work includes credits on War Crimes Unpunished, Norway Massacre: The Killer’s Mind and Alive! 60 Days Under Snow.  Hawryliw is also a motion graphics creator and devised all the graphics for C5’s Will & Kate Anniversary Special.

“Charlie has an exceptional eye and a real editorial instinct, which he combines with great technical aptitude and huge enthusiasm for the latest technology,” ITN Productions editorial director Chris Shaw commented in Broadcast’s profile of Hawryliw.

Hawryliw took a foundation degree in Post Production at Ravensbourne in 2005.

After completing his studies at Ravensbourne, he worked as an editor at content production company Skyworks Ltd and was then a freelance avid and fcp editor before joining ITN Productions.  He has held his present role working on a variety of documentaries and factual entertainment programmes for more than three years.

Broadcast Magazine’s Hot Shots supplement is an annual listing by Broadcast magazine aimed at shining a light on the brightest young minds in the industry.  The listing profiles 55 people in total, all under the age of 30, divided into six categories.  Hawryliw was one of nine creatives included in the Craft and Post category.

Other Ravensbourne alumni to have made the Hot Shots list include Lexi Elven, a BA Moving Image Design graduate who is now a freelance motion graphics designer; and Ian Grech, a BA (Hons) Broadcast Post Production graduate who is now a freelance editor/colourist.
