Relocation to Greenwich
Greenwich Peninsula: it's our new home in 2010. Make it yours too.
Opening in autumn 2010, the new Ravensbourne building is located next door to the world-famous entertainment venue, The O2 Arena. It's part of London and only 20 minutes from the West End, well served with modern public transport connections yet only a couple of miles from elegant historic Greenwich Peninsula. The building looks amazing from the outside, but inside is where the real excitement will happen. The layout will feature a series of work spaces and state of the art technology to simulate the environment and working practices that our students are likely to experience as creative professionals.
There is a great emphasis on shared space and facilities, enabling students to collaborate with each other, across disciplines and levels. There will be a variety of working and social environments to suit each student's individual approach to learning and the demands of the particular project they are working on, as well as offering somewhere to relax with friends and take a break. There will be individual workspace, group workspace and a quiet study area, along with exhibition space for the final assembly, presentation and display of work.
Ravensbourne invests heavily in digital technologies that students can exploit in the pursuit of highly creative and enterprising design and communications solutions. Our new building will include HD TV studios, rapid prototyping equipment, digital media studios and production suites, virtual environments, flexible digital teaching studios, research lab, and a postgraduate centre for enterprise and innovation. To enable personalised learning we will encourage the use of mobile technologies, including laptops. The building will have an integrated cabled network system with free wifi and high speed internet access throughout.
Enterprise and innovation will be at the heart of Ravensbourne. The building will incorporate an enterprise centre offering students, staff, graduates, alumni and businesses access to the college's leading edge facilities and creativity. Maximising the use of virtual environments and digital technologies will ensure that Ravensbourne's enterprise and innovation activities can be sourced from anywhere in the world. These opportunities, coupled with professional teaching staff and alumni well networked in industry circles, place our students ahead of their peers in the eyes of potential employers.
