Animation and games design
Today in the UK, Animation stretches across many sectors in the creative industries. From films to television, commercials and websites to computer and video games, it’s most likely you will find some form of animated content.
The sector is roughly made of four specialist areas:
- 2D drawn or traditional
- 2D computer generated
- stop frame; and
- 3D computer generated
There is also the potential to pursue computer games design, which is fast becoming a major part of the UK’s media industry.
What’s more, the basic skill of animation still relies heavily on the animator’s artistic and storytelling abilities, but there is a growing need for animators to be proficient with technical computer packages – such as Maya, 3D Studio Max, SolidWorks and VectorWorks.
