*Please note this course is not offered in 2013-14

This course is aimed at animators seeking to challenge their work and to engage with new opportunities presented by developments in technology and the expansion of the commercial possibilities for creatives operating in this field.

The course encourages animators who can break with convention and explore every opportunity that digital technology and the changing marketplace offers. It seeks to create animators who think about distribution platforms and markets at the point of conceptualisation.

At the cutting edge, the course embraces new technologies and explores the aesthetic and artistic issues that arise from them. You will have the opportunity to interrogate your practice from a range of perspectives and standpoints, open it up to new cultures and influences, and redefine your creative style.

The course has a unique teaching and learning framework, providing you with the creative opportunity to develop a singular vision as an animator as well as embrace the multi-disciplinary perspectives and opportunities for collaboration which arise from the course’s location within a broader group of creative postgraduate courses.

Sunghwoa Gong - MA Animation Futures

I worked as a concept arts designer in a games company in Korea, which developed my interest in character animation and interactive media. I soon realised that I wanted to study this subject more, and in order to explore the creative side found it would be better to study in either Japan, the US or UK. Ravensbourne was recommended to me and it has lived up to expectations. It’s developed my skills and thinking, I have enjoyed working in new ways on various projects, and the tutors are very helpful. I hope to produce more projects for animation and the gaming industry and I also want to continue living abroad as it’s been a great experience. Overall, it’s been well worth the money!
