Before I came to London, I did a two-year Foundation course in Interior Design in Devon. My tutor there recommended Ravensbourne to me because it is quite practical. The teaching here is very different. There are not so many lectures and the tutors want us to learn by ourselves and learn how to sort out problems ourselves. I think that is the most important thing that I have learnt here. I used to do what the teacher says and now I can make decisions by myself. I like London and I love studying here. There are so many museums and also wide pavements whereas in Taiwan the pavements are very narrow. My plan now is to go back to Taiwan. I will work there for two years and then go to China and try to get into a big name architecture company.

The course taught me a lot. It was not just focused on interior design, but it gave a taste of the different areas of design and helped you discover what you would like to focus on. With this course, you’re free to explore what you want to do. The tutors don’t tell you that you have to stick with a certain style, they let you find what you enjoy doing and that has been really beneficial. In India, studying is more theoretical and technical. If you want a degree in architecture you have to have math as your background, but here it is more design based and the creative side of architecture. If you want to explore the more creative side of architecture, I would definitely recommend this course. I would now like to work for a few well-known companies and then go back to India and start a practice of my own.

I came here because in my country Sound Design doesn’t really exist so it was either London or the US. I know for music everything happens in London so I came here. Before applying, I contacted other students that had done the course via Facebook and asked them how the course was and a lot of people gave me really good feedback. I was quite impressed and said OK I want to go there. I’ve just finished my first year and I’m really happy so far. The course has more than lived up to my expectations. I’ve had the opportunity to go to different areas in sound and to learn about recording techniques and different areas you can work in. It’s really exciting. After the course, I would love to stay in the UK if possible as I love living in London. I would like to work in post production, sound recording and everything related to sound design.

I ran my own business in Pakistan for three years and I wanted to branch out globally and I thought it would be a really good experience to come here and get some exposure to western fashion and the technologies that are available here. I come into London each summer and when I came here for a visit, I just loved the campus and really enjoyed the vibe of the place so I made it my first choice. One of the best things about the course was the other students – there were so many different nationalities and different conversations and new ways of thinking. I would definitely recommend the college. I do think there could be a few improvements, but overall it was great. After the course finishes, I’m looking to design a line of fusion wear that merges my experiences into something wearable but unique.

I worked as a concept arts designer in a games company in Korea, which developed my interest in character animation and interactive media. I soon realised that I wanted to study this subject more, and in order to explore the creative side found it would be better to study in either Japan, the US or UK. Ravensbourne was recommended to me and it has lived up to expectations. It’s developed my skills and thinking, I have enjoyed working in new ways on various projects, and the tutors are very helpful. I hope to produce more projects for animation and the gaming industry and I also want to continue living abroad as it’s been a great experience. Overall, it’s been well worth the money!

After studying product design for my first degree, I worked as a designer on children’s furniture and then moved into graphic design and later worked as a visual display designer. Ravensbourne was the ideal place for me as it is in London – the design capital – and it’s in a fantastic new building. I’m very happy on the course – I’ve been able to combine 2D and 3D in my projects and there have been lots of group projects, which is a good way of collaborating with course colleagues. My ambition is to work in packaging and product design based, hopefully, in the UK.

I’ve worked in the design industry for seven years, but prefer being involved in management than designing even though my first degree was in graphic design. I was conscious of the fact that I had no formal education in design management and was looking for something that could help me make sense of the different management styles at the companies I worked for. I was attracted to the Ravensbourne MDes because it allowed me to study part-time. The course has lived up to my expectations as I’ve been challenged academically – it’s hard work and the research and theory are challenging, but it gives me a focus each week. The course will certainly look good on my CV and help me progress to a senior management position.

After completing my first degree in video design, I worked in post-production for two web TV channels but then decided to return to study. I was attracted to study in the UK as there is so much to learn from the industry in London. I’m enjoying the research side of the course. I’m developing and experimenting with various techniques such as motion graphics and interactive features on the documentaries I’m working on. I want to learn as much as I can so that I can return to my home country, Greece, to set up a studio, teach editing and produce my own documentary films.

I came to London from Serbia to study a BA in interior design and technology and liked living in London so much that I didn’t want to leave after graduating. Ravensbourne was recommended to me and I signed up for the MA Environment Design. I like the abstract elements of the course, the way it is structured and the tutors. The course has challenged me and I’m learning lots. I am currently working on a live brief of a gym that will be built near by. The opportunity to work with the industry is great. My goal is to stay in the UK and work here and in the future return to Serbia to establish my own studio.

After gaining my fine art degree, I spent a year developing my art practice and holding exhibitions. During this time, I really needed to re-engage back with theory and context within a supportive educational environment to further understand what my work was really about. I’ve always had an interest in technology and that lead me to this course. Technology has brought a new dimension to my work and helps me to constantly re-evaluate what I have done and why. I have been able to explore the link between traditional printmaking and new technologies such as 3D printing as well as making the work coherent through a wider historical and theoretical context. After graduating, I hope to get into part-time lecturing and to continue as a practicing artist.
