Further Education

James Ward

James is responsible for the overall strategic management of the Further Education (FE) department as well as the day-to-day management of the FE department. Over his five years at Ravensbourne Jamers has grown a department of one full time course (175 students) to a portfolio of five full time FE courses with over 360 students.

As a senior academic James is at the heart of the academic community at Ravensbourne with membership to a number of internal committees and boards. He has represented the British Council at numerous international events and has delivered a number short international summer schools and research investigating the delivery of FE provision in Japan.

Outside of Ravensbourne James has successfully created a suite of part time digital short courses for London Borough of Greenwich (LBG) where he is a member of a number of school improvement initiatives. Association with the World Heritage Sites Education Group has enabled James to support a number of UNSECO projects, and membership on the Skillset Digital Media Apprenticeships Advisory Working Group has allowed him the opportunity to shape the creation of the national curriculum.

Extensive experience of designing and delivering degree level broadcast engineering courses and technical training for media organisations in a broadcast environment.

Jeremy Gardiner

Professor Jeremy Gardiner is a former Harkness Fellow of the Media Lab of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology he has received a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship and honorary mention for his work from Prix Ars Electronica. He was a founding member of the Digital Art Department at Pratt Institute of Art and Design in New York and was tutor for Computers in Printmaking at the Royal College of Art.  His work has been commissioned by General Electric, IBM and NYNEX and is held in numerous private and public collections including, BNP Paribas, Glaxo Smith Kline, Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi, Government Art Collection, Imperial College and the V&A.  He was co-chair of Digital Craftsmanship at the 2010 College Art Association conference in New York City.  Recent projects include Ideas Before Their Time and Projected Augmented Relief Models.
