Student Services

Ravensbourne cares about the individual welfare of students. Our friendly and approachable Student Services staff are fully trained and prepared to help students solve a range of challenges they may face during their studies.

Our services

Learning support and Learning development

The programmes at Ravensbourne are challenging and we recognise that students may need extra help.  We can offer help students with study skills, academic writing skills and English language. We can also confidentially refer students with particular learning needs to specialist tutors for support.

Mentoring for success

We can offer ‘mentoring for success’ services to individual students whereby any personal difficulties, problems with studying, etc… can be worked through to enable students to remain on-track with their learning.

General health, welfare and well-being

We offer a professional and discreet counselling service to help overcome any problems you might face in your academic or personal life. Whether this is something emotional, financial or just plain practical, we provide a supportive network of people who will listen and help.

Disabilities support

As a smaller specialised institution we are able to respond to individual students’ requirements flexibly and effectively. We can work with students with disabilities to identify any particular requirements before they arrive at the College. For example, we can facilitate an interview by providing a communicator for the deaf, or arrange an informal visit to look at physical access issues.

We will also contact students who have declared a disability at the time of their application (UCAS form or a Support Services questionnaire). This is to ensure that any support required will be in place at the beginning of the course, wherever possible.

We aim to ensure that disability and learning difficulties are not barriers to the selection of students and any discussions are entirely separate from the academic decision of the offer of a place.

Other areas were we can assit disable students include: pre-application support, guidance on applying for Disabled Student Allowance and financial and benefit advice.

Dyslexia and special learning needs support

We offer confidential support in a variety of ways to students with dyslexia or special learning needs. We can:

  • provide confidential screening, diagnostic assessment and advice to help you make
    decisions about learning needs and support;
  • offer guidance and support in applying for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)
