Payment of fees
Students enrolling on the UAL Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design (QCF) are advised that these are Further Education courses and as such are not eligible for funding by the Student loans Company in respect of tuition fee and maintenance loans and/or grants. Please DO NOT make funding applications since they will be rejected by the assessing authority.
Fees are payable in full on enrolment
- Arrangements can be made with the finance office to pay tuition fees in three termly instalments. There is an administration charge of 1.5% of the full year’s tuition fee (minimum £30) for making this arrangement. The administration fee will not apply where fees are paid by direct debit where all instalments are collected by the due dates. Registration fees are payable in full on enrolment.
- Students from outside the UK and EU who pay their tuition and registration fee in full by 1st September, will be given a discount of 5% of the tuition fee. Payment must be received by the college by this date for the discount to apply.
- Isle of Man and Channel Islands students will be charged international fees for further education courses.
Where agreement exists to pay by instalments, fees are payable as follows:
- 40% of the tuition fee + registration fees (if applicable) + administration charge (if applicable) on enrolment.
- 30% of tuition fee at the start of the second term.
- 30% of the tuition at the start of the third term.
Should a student withdraw from a course during the year, tuition fees will be charged as follows: (please note these apply from 2011/12 onwards)
- Withdrawal on or before 31 October – £ Nill
- Withdrawal during the remainder of the first term – 40% of the tuition fee
- Withdrawal on or after 1st January Full years fees payable.
- Where Registration fees are charged these are payable on enrolment at the start of the academic year and are not refundable irrespective of the date of withdrawal.

Other financial help for FE students
Learner Support Fund
The Learner Support Fund can provide extra help if you’re in hardship and need extra financial support:
- for course or living costs that are not already covered by other forms of financial help, for example student loans
- for emergency or unexpected financial crisis, such as repairs to essential household equipment
- if you are thinking of giving up your course because of financial problems and need support to help you keep studying.
